New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) has just signed an order which ultimately prevents State Agencies from asking about Immigration status, therefore fully ignoring the laws of the United States. Details have revealed that the order which prohibits the state agencies from taking any actions by removing their ability to question Immigration status has been signed this Friday.
In addition to preventing them from doing so in a situation where the person is seeking help, this order also prevents state employees from disclosing the data unless they are required to by law and investigating illegal activity. However the order doesn’t apply when officials need to determine whether an individual is eligible for a benefit or service.
In a statement, the NY Governor revealed, “As Washington squabbles over rolling back sensible immigration policy, we are taking action to help protect all New Yorkers from unwarranted targeting by government,” further explaining how NY has become the “Empire State due to the contributions of immigrants from every corner of the globe” adding how they “will not let the politics of fear and intimidation divide us.”
The order came not long after several New York officials launched full-blown attacks at the Trump administration over its decision to end the DACA program which currently benefits more than 800,000 undocumented immigrants.
And as if that was not enough, Cuomo along with NY Attorney General Eric Scneiderman (D) have both threatened to sue the administration over the decision.
The liberals have taken a step far beyond any boundary, but only time will show whether they will regret doing so.
