Given the danger that violent radical leftist groups, including Black Lives Matter, have put us in recently, this is certainly not the time for opportunist Al Sharpton to be making dangerous, racially charged threats.
However, Sharpton clearly lacks awareness about what he might set in motion with his words, as he just issued a threat against sports network ESPN about what they will happen if they fire slanderous reporter Jemele Hill.
Hill recently earned infamy when she tweeted about President Donald Trump, “Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists.” The blowback to this remark and others by Hill was so intense that even liberal ESPN was moved to apologize for Hill’s totally unprofessional remark and chastise her in public for it.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders put pressure on ESPN to let Jemele go, stating, “I think it’s one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something I think is a fireable offense by ESPN.” She later reiterated, “I think it is a fireable offense based on the standard that ESPN has set themselves by saying that people that go too far and make political comments have been suspended from their own network. I think that that is a consistency that they should probably focus on.”
However, Sharpton decided to make Hill’s inappropriate remark a racial issue, and declared about the prospect of ESPN dismissing Jemele that it would be “robbing a person of their right to express their views.” He then said, “If ESPN does this, they’re going to face the wrath of a lot us.” Do you think it is sickening for Sharpton to be inciting race-based violence like this?
