This Wednesday morning, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) shocked the nation when he called for the impeachment of President Trump and accused him of obstruction of justice.
“I rise today with a sense of responsibility and duty to the people who have elected me, a sense of duty to this country, a sense of duty to the Constitution of the United States of America,” he started his speech. “I rise today Mr. Speaker to call for the impeachment of the President of the United States of America for obstruction of justice.”
The nation was shocked by the call right away, but everyone seemed to patiently wait for what Al Green had to say.
“There is a belief in this country that no one is above the law. And that includes the President of the United States of America” he added.
Before he took it to Congress, Green announced his plans on Twitter this morning, calling on the American people toe express themselves on where they stand.
Today on the floor of the Congress of the United States of America, I will call for the Impeachment of the President between 9am & 10am CST.

“The American don’t participate on Election Day only,” he said. “It is time for you to let us know where you stand… The American people should speak out, speak up.”
The Democrat Congressman stated that a call to impeach Trump is a position of conscience for him, adding that “Each member of Congress has to make his or her decision.” “This is where I stand, I will not be moved. The president must be impeached” he added.
However, Green pointed out that impeachment of the president would not mean that he would be found guilty, but only that the House of Representatives will bring charges against the president.
Green’s call for impeachment comes just a day after reports came in that President Trump asked former FBI Director James Comey in February to end the federal investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who was fired for misrepresenting his interactions with Russian officials.
